WBA Field Trials Show Major Performance Gains with End-to-End Wi-Fi QoS

Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA) has released results from its End-to-End Quality of Service field trials, confirming that standardized Wi-Fi QoS mechanisms deliver significant real-world improvements for latency-sensitive applications. Conducted with Airties, Charter Communications, Intel, Meta and Zebra, the tests showed up to 70 percent reductions in latency, smoother framerates, improved resolutions and lower round-trip traffic times across video conferencing, cloud gaming and live streaming. The trials highlight that effective QoS not only boosts technical performance but also enhances operational efficiency, improves user experience and supports new commercial opportunities, positioning QoS as a strategic business enabler.

Hikvision Fights Back: US Crackdown on Chinese Telecom Gear Faces Legal Challenge

Hikvision, a leading Chinese surveillance and telecom equipment manufacturer, has filed a legal challenge against a 2025 Federal Communications Commission (FCC) rule, claiming the agency overstepped its authority. Under the rule, the FCC can block new telecom equipment from firms on its “Covered List” including Hikvision, Huawei, and ZTE and revoke approval for previously authorized devices, even retroactively. Hikvision argues that this retroactive ban undermines lawful authorizations and threatens its business and that of its partners and customers by destabilizing regulatory certainty.

India Accelerates 5G Rollout with Over 6,000 New Base Stations in November 2025

India added over 6,000 new 5G base stations (BTS) in November 2025, bringing the nationwide total to 514,742 5G BTS from 508,732 in October. This rapid rollout significantly higher than the 4,100 BTS added in October reflects strong investment across multiple states and union territories, including Kerala. The expansion emphasizes extending 5G coverage to more districts, boosting network capacity and improving customer mobile‑internet access.
