Norway Probes Telenor Over Myanmar Data Sharing Allegations
Norwegian police have launched an investigation into Telenor over suspected aiding and abetting crimes against humanity in Myanmar following the 2021 military coup, with investigators raiding the company’s Oslo headquarters. Authorities are also examining possible sanctions violations linked to Telenor’s exit from Myanmar. Police allege that Telenor Myanmar repeatedly provided historical customer traffic data to the military regime while security forces were accused of widespread abuses. Telenor, which completed its Myanmar exit in March 2022, said it is cooperating with investigators and argued that employees faced imprisonment, torture or the death penalty if orders were rejected. The probe also concerns the transfer of sanctioned surveillance equipment during the business sale.
TRAI Penalizes Vodafone Idea ₹2 Lakh for Quality-of-Service Breach
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India has imposed a ₹2 lakh financial disincentive on Vodafone Idea for failing to meet prescribed Quality of Service benchmarks. The violation relates to service performance during October 2025 and falls under TRAI’s Standards of Quality of Service of Access and Broadband Service Regulations, 2024. Vodafone Idea received the order on September 14, 2026, and disclosed it on September 15. The company said it is reviewing the order and assessing next steps, while indicating that the maximum financial impact is limited to the ₹2 lakh disincentive.
WOW! Expands Wi-Fi 7 Across Broadband Footprint in Six US States
WideOpenWest has expanded its Wi-Fi 7 deployment beyond fiber-only markets to all WOW! service areas across six states, covering Whole-Home WiFi and Whole-Business WiFi customers. The broadband operator is deploying eero Pro 7 devices, which provide coverage of up to 2,000 square feet per unit and support more than 200 simultaneous devices. Each unit includes tri-band connectivity and two 10G Ethernet ports for multi-gigabit services. WOW!’s network passes nearly 2 million residential, business and wholesale customers across 20 markets. The wider rollout indicates how Wi-Fi 7 is moving from premium fiber deployments toward mainstream broadband-network strategies focused on improving in-home speed, coverage, latency and reliability.
