The OpenInfra Foundation has launched StarlingX 12.0, advancing its open-source distributed cloud platform widely used by leading telecom operators. The software integrates technologies like OpenStack, Kubernetes, Ceph and virtualization tools into a unified stack designed for edge and centralized cloud deployment. Built for high performance and scalability, StarlingX enables efficient management of geographically dispersed infrastructure with low-latency communication. The platform, already hardened in telecom production environments, supports demanding applications including industrial automation, aerospace systems and critical energy networks. The latest release enhances scalability, operational efficiency and hardware support, reinforcing StarlingX’s role as a key infrastructure solution for next-generation edge computing and mission-critical industries.

Brightspeed Expands Fiber Footprint Across Wisconsin, Connecting Thousands

Brightspeed has completed fiber network construction in 13 communities across Wisconsin, marking a major milestone in its statewide broadband expansion. The company has now finished about 30 percent of its planned network, bringing high-speed fiber internet to over 67,000 homes and businesses, with plans to reach an additional 146,000 locations. Fully connected communities include Marinette, Sparta, and Oconto, among others. The expansion targets rural and underserved areas, aiming to replace legacy copper networks with faster, more reliable fiber infrastructure. The upgrade supports growing demand for data-intensive applications such as remote work, telehealth, cloud services, and AI-driven technologies, helping strengthen local economies and digital access.

Huawei Unveils AI-Powered Xinghe Network to Accelerate Africa’s Digital Intelligence

At the Huawei Network Summit 2026 in Cairo, Huawei launched an upgraded Xinghe Intelligent Network tailored for Northern Africa, emphasizing secure, AI-driven connectivity. The solution reflects a shift toward AI-centric enterprise networks, integrating capabilities such as lossless computing, full-scope security, and autonomous operations. Huawei highlighted three core upgrades: green ultra-broadband, enhanced security and resilience, and network autonomy to support growing data and intelligence demands. The company also introduced new products and solutions targeting sectors like government, education, and finance, aligning with regional digital transformation goals. The initiative aims to strengthen infrastructure and enable industries across Africa to advance toward an intelligent, AI-enabled future.
