Comcast and CommScope Push Gigabit Speeds with DOCSIS 4.0 Amplifiers

CommScope and Comcast have deployed DOCSIS 4.0 Full Duplex (FDX) amplifiers across Comcast markets. These amplifiers enable multi-gigabit symmetrical speeds to homes using existing coaxial connections. They are part of Comcast’s DOCSIS 4.0 network upgrades, allowing higher-speed broadband without replacing existing infrastructure. The amplifiers include AI-driven management that detects and resolves network events automatically, supporting stable network operation. CommScope plans to provide amplifiers and Remote PHY Devices capable of supporting 1.8 GHz Extended Spectrum DOCSIS and FDX networks in a single device.

Zyxel Launches WiFi 7 Access Points to Boost Small Business Networks

Zyxel Networks introduced four WiFi 7 access points for small businesses. The devices use quad-core Qualcomm chipsets and support NebulaFlex, allowing switching between on-premises and cloud management. Installation uses zero-touch provisioning and app-based onboarding. Security features include SSID VLAN tagging and Smart Mesh multi-link operation (MLO) to enhance throughput and reduce latency. The access points minimize interference from adjacent networks. The portfolio includes NWA90BE PRO BE6500 for high-traffic areas with dual-radio and BandFlex tri-band capability, NWA90BE BE5100 for guest WiFi with RADIUS Authentication and Captive Portal, NWA50BE PRO for small businesses and home offices with low-latency connectivity, and NWA50BE as a cost-effective solution for compact workspaces.

Advanced Energy Launches 1300W & 1600W DC-DC Converters

Advanced Energy launched two DC-DC converter modules: NDQ1300 (1300 W) and NDQ1600 (1600 W). These modules convert 48 V input to 12 V output with up to 98 percent efficiency. They are designed for information and communication technology (ICT) equipment, AI servers, industrial applications, robotics, and test and measurement systems. The modules are part of the non-isolated bus converter (NIBC) family and provide consistent power conversion across a wide load range. They include a PMBus interface for digital control and monitoring, support current sharing, remote sensing, and use a transformer-based topology to manage transient loads and inrush current on startup.

Optus Emergency Call Outage Hits Thousands, Sparks Telecom Reliability Focus

Australian telecom operator Optus experienced an emergency call outage in Dapto, south of Sydney, affecting around 4,500 people. The incident follows a September 18 outage that disrupted emergency services across two states and the Northern Territory. Optus attributed the Dapto issue to a faulty mobile tower and confirmed that all attempted emergency calls were accounted for. The September 18 outage was linked to a firewall upgrade and potential human error. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese called the situation unacceptable. Singtel, Optus’ parent company, pledged cooperation in resolving the issue, Reuters reports.
