Global eSIM Boost: Cisco and Tata Communications Unite for IoT Connectivity

Cisco and Tata Communications announced a collaboration to expand global eSIM and IoT connectivity. Tata Communications MOVE platform, managing over 350 million eSIM OS across 200+ countries, will integrate with Cisco’s IoT Control Center, supporting over 270 million IoT SIM devices, including 100 million connected cars. The integration allows enterprises to activate and manage devices across multiple SIM providers, networks, and eSIM standards, simplifying IoT deployments for industries such as transportation, logistics, and manufacturing.

Midco Embraces Virtual Broadband to Drive 10 Gbps Expansion

Midco has selected Harmonic’s cOS virtualized broadband platform to expand its network and deliver multi-gigabit connectivity using DOCSIS and fiber, supporting its $500 million Fiber Forward initiative targeting speeds of up to 10 Gbps. The network will use distributed access architecture with Pebble Remote PHY devices and Ripple modular DAA nodes, enabling a single platform for both DOCSIS and fiber while reducing hardware and power needs. Harmonic’s AI-powered cOS Central will manage workflows and provide real-time visibility to support proactive issue resolution. Dell’Oro Group reports that Harmonic leads in cable broadband equipment, virtual CMTS, and DAA technologies, with its cOS platform powering over 35 million connected devices globally.

Comtech’s SLM-5650B Becomes First Sovereign-Certified Modem on SES’s O3b mPOWER

Comtech announced that its SLM-5650B software-defined modem is the first sovereign-certified modem to receive Government Terminal Certification (GTC) for operation on SES’s O3b mPOWER medium earth orbit (MEO) satellite constellation. The certification allows the U.S. Department of Defense and coalition partners to access high-throughput, low-latency satellite communications in remote and contested regions. The modem, designed and manufactured in Chandler, Arizona, is also Wideband Global SATCOM (WGS) certified. It supports NATO and military standards including STANAG 4486 Edition 3 (EBEM), Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum (DSSS), and DVB-S2X, with the capability to integrate additional waveforms.
