SK Telecom and Telecom New Zealand sign IoT agreement

SK Telecom and Telecom New Zealand have decided to associate on smart car, telematics and smart city project utilizing Internet of Things (IoT).

The two telecom operators will explore IoT business items with high utility targeting a massive market, said SK Telecom.

Through additional discussions, the companies also plan to further expand the areas of collaboration to other IoT businesses such as Smart Farm.

IDC ranked Korea 2nd after the US in IoT preparedness.

SK Telecom Signed MOU with Telecom New Zealand

SK Telecom, which started IoT services in 2000 for the first time in Korea, recently launched Bridge Alliance for M2M with 10 other mobile network operators in Asian Pacific countries.

Cho Seung-won, senior vice president and head of Public Business Office 3, said: “To develop the Korean IoT industry and pioneer the global market, SK Telecom is actively contributing to creation of global IoT ecosystem.”
