MTS India launches 3GPLUS service at 9.8 Mbps speed

Sistema Shyam TeleServices (MTS India) announced the launch of 3GPLUS service on its EVDO REV.D Phase 2 technology.

The service will be available in Delhi, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kolkatta, Uttar Pradesh West and West Bengal.

The announcement was made at Delhi on Wednesday.

MTSMTS India 3GPLUS offers data speeds of up 9.8 Mbps. The company will be launching new Smartphones this year enabling users to utilize 3GPLUS network.

MTS India also received its unified telecom license recently.

The unified license will enable the company to provide technology neutral telecom services for a period of 20 years. MTS India is a subsidiary of Sistema of Russia.

Earlier, MTS India said it would consider launching 4G in India. The new license enables MTS to launch 4G / LTE. Today’s MTS statement does not talk about its future plans relating mobile broadband.

MTS India becomes the first telecom operator in the country to be a part of unified licensing regime.
