Vodafone Idea announced its mobile content deal with Sun TV Network to offer 50,000 plus hours of entertainment content in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam languages to its South Indian customers.
The leading telecom operator aims to improve mobile ARPU from its data customers through a series of content deals. Vodafone Idea has lost more than one million mobile phone subscribers in November 2018.
Sashi Shankar, chief marketing officer of Vodafone Idea, said: “Video and vernacular are the new growth drivers in digital content consumption today, especially in markets of South India.”
Sun NXT, a OTT platform, will power 30 plus Live TV channels, 4000 plus movies and TV shows, music videos and short format content on both Vodafone Play, Idea Movies and TV App.
Vodafone Idea customers can access TV channels like Sun TV, Gemini TV, Udaya TV, Surya TV and many other channels and popular movies and top-rated TV shows across the four languages.
The Vodafone Play app is downloaded by 10 million plus Vodafone subscribers to access 9500 plus movies in16 different languages, 300 plus live TV channels along with original web series and international TV Shows.
Idea Movies and TV app — downloaded by 10 million plus Idea customers — has 8500 plus movies, 400 plus Live TV Channels, TV Shows and original content across.
Vodafone Idea has 422 million plus customers with revenue market share of 32.2 percent in Q1 fiscal 2018-19.
Vodafone Idea lost subscribers
Vodafone Idea has lost more than one million mobile phone subscribers in South India in November 2018.
It has 85.344 million mobile phone subscribers in South India in Nov 2018 as against 86.703 million in Oct 2018, according to the latest report from TRAI.
The number of mobile phone subscribers of Vodafone Idea in Andhra Pradesh dropped to 23.343 million from 23.678 million.
In addition, Vodafone Idea has lost its mobile phone subscribers in Karnataka including the Bangalore city to 16.173 million in Nov 2018 as compared with 16.495 million in the previous month.
Vodafone Idea has lost its mobile phone subscribers in Kerala to 20.354 million from 20.446 million.
Vodafone Idea has lost its mobile phone subscribers in Tamil Nadu including the Chennai metro city to 25.528 million from 26.083 million.
