Airtel announced the appointment of Abhishek Tripathi to lead the small and medium business (SMB) division of Airtel Payments Bank.
Tripathi joins from PayU, where he functioned as associate and business head. He was responsible for acquiring merchants and servicing the existing base. Prior to working with PayU, he worked at Paytm. He also founded RING-a-BOOK in 2010.
“My love towards SMB is very deep, this is the universe which can be quantified as 51 million, while today only 40% of these SMB’s are influenced by technology, the number is expected to increase to 90% of all SMB’s by 2020,” said Tripathi.
Back in June, Airtel Payments Bank made another major reshuffle by appointing Shashi Arora as CEO and managing director of the company – replacing Manish Khera, who has decided to pursue his entrepreneurial journey.
