Spirent Communications has acquired Epitiro, a provider of Wi-Fi experience monitoring systems.

The wireless test and measurement (T&M) company did not reveal the size of the acquisition.

Epitiro and Spirent Communications have already partnered to handle some Wi-Fi experience monitoring deals.

Epitiro has deployed its web-based Wi-Fi experience monitoring platform at multiple customers, including a tier 1 US service provider, ensuring visibility of the end-user experience by performing tests that emulate realistic user activities.

Metrics include availability of Wi-Fi connectivity, file transfer and web browsing speed, availability and performance of social media applications like Facebook and much more. Epitiro’s rugged probes may be deployed in office buildings, factories, stadiums and other mobility locations providing real-time insight into the availability and experience of services.

Epitiro’s solutions are now part of the newly-formed Mobility product line with a focus on assuring the experience of Wi-Fi and LTE services in mobility locations.

“Our service provider and enterprise customers increasingly see Wi-Fi as an integral part of their strategy to provide services anywhere and anytime,” said Des Owens, general manager of Service Assurance at Spirent.
