R&M acquires Advanced Fiber Systems, to focus on Indian FTTH projects

Swiss cabling vendor R&M has acquired Advanced Fiber Systems (AFS) in India, a manufacturer of fiber-optic products and solutions for the Public Network market. The acquisition will enable R&M to focus on FTTH deals.

As per the deal, the management and all employees of AFS will transfer to R&M in India. With the integration of the business activity of AFS, the number of R&M employees will now increase to over 50.

The acquisition provides R&M with the industrial platform to strengthen its existing structured cabling business in India and addresses new strategic market segments.

Laurent Amestoy, executive VP of R&M Asia-Pacific, said: “R&M has achieved tremendous growth in India since beginning operations in 2006. We can now actively participate in the growing fiber-optic network deployments, Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) roll-outs and data center projects.”

Gaurav Ahluwalia, managing director of R&M, said: “We’ve been able to grow rapidly in India year-on-year and with this acquisition we are looking forward to broadening our reach and solutions. AFS has been a certified assembly partner of R&M for many years, so the quality and innovation in fiber optic solutions will continue.”
