Pacnet adds 2 new CDN PoPs in China

Telecom Lead Asia: Pacnet has added two new CDN Points-of-Presence (PoPs) in China.

The expansion enables Pacnet to enhance its content delivery network (CDN) service and increase the performance and speed of digital content delivery in China.

The two new PoPs are located in Guangzhou and Tangshan. PoPs will provide coverage of the northern and southern regions of China. These are situated close to major cities including Beijing and Shanghai where most of China’s digital content is consumed.

Jim Fagan, president of Managed Services, Pacnet, said: “These two new PoPs are keys to our strategy to capitalize on that increasing demand.”

Along with the four CDN PoPs previously deployed in Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong and Australia, Pacnet now has a total of nine self-owned and managed CDN PoPs in the region. By deploying more CDN PoPs, Pacnet is able to store and deliver digital content at CDN PoPs in local markets.

Additionally, through its CDN federation partners in Europe and the United States, Pacnet has access to a total of 42 PoPs worldwide.
