Orange to add €600 million in revenues from Airtel deal

Stephane Richard, chairman and CEO of Orange, said its negotiations with Bharti Airtel to acquire operations in 4 new African countries will assist in adding 10 million customers and €600 million in revenues.

Orange’s Q2 2015 revenue dipped 0.2 percent to 9,885 million euros or $10.94 billion.

The telecom operator, which is keen to expand in select African nations, exited from Uganda in H1 2015, and announced a plan to exit from Armenia.

Orange is also talks to sell stake in EE, the UK operator, which will make the operator a stakeholder in BT.

The telecoms acquired Jazztel in Spain in deal valued at more than €3 billion.

Orange CEO Stephane Richard said: “Mobile-only companies are becoming increasingly rare in Europe, and I think that in the coming years, it will only get more difficult to develop a strategy based solely on mobile.”
