Next Convergence India will be held on January 16-18, 2013

Telecom Lead India: Next year’s Convergence India will be
held on January 16-18, 2013.

The change in date to January from March is significant as the
organizers can conduct the country’s largest telecom show well ahead of Mobile
World Congress 2013.

The theme of Convergence India 2012 was India Goes Digital.
Several people liked the theme since India will focus more on broadband and
broadcasting in coming months.

Several leading players such as Huawei, ZTE, Nokia Siemens,
etc did not participate at the event. Ericsson put up a stall for its
television division, a part of multimedia offerings.

During the Convergence India 2012 show, Prem Behl, chairman,
Exhibitions India Group, organizers of the show, said: “The Government of India
has been keenly interested to provide customers with digital broadcast content.
With this in view, targets have been established for the country to go digital
by 2014. Advantages will accrue to the treasury and to consumers. Cable
networks will be upgraded, and equipment vendors will have opportunities to
provide the latest technologies and systems for this purpose.”
