Motorola offers new TETRA handhelds for mission critical communications

Telecom Lead Asia: Motorola Solutions is introducing the next generation of Terrestrial Trunked Radio (TETRA) base stations which combines TETRA and LTE alongwith a variety of innovative communications solutions.
TETRA was designed specifically for government agencies, emergency services, such as police forces and fire departments and for public safety networks, rail transportation staff for train radios, transport services and the military. Motorola Solutions´ offers a new operating environment which ensures that public safety professionals will be able to securely switch between TETRA radio and broadband networks, whether private or public.
Motorola´s new MTS4L base station combines the TETRA/TEDS and LTE base station to facilitate a cost-effective and staged migration to a unified TETRA and LTE network. Network operators can choose when and where to add LTE to their core networks.

The base station, built on a future-proof, open architecture unifies the data sources and services that support next generation mobile applications. Network operators can even choose the frequency of LTE that they want to add to their core networks. Operators can also choose to have LTE service in some areas initially and then progressively roll out the service to a wider area.
Motorola’s Assured Mobile Environment (AME) solution is edging out smartphones by providing an end-to-end high assurance ecosystem for secure voice, video and data communication on Android devices that operate over private or public 3G / LTE and WiFi networks.
The MTS4L is based on the MTS4 base station which supports TEDS the platform for secure mission-critical high-speed data services. The MTS4L base station can be installed as a TETRA-only base station and include the services for Evolved Node B (eNode B), such as shared backhaul, common power supply and battery backup.
The MTP6750 Terrestrial Trunked Radio (TETRA) handheld radio has a five megapixel camera. It features the Photograph and Intelligence Communications System (PICS) image management solution with which images captured on the MTP6750 can be managed, authenticated and shared within a public safety organization´s existing workflows. This feature makes verification of captured images possible at any point so as to reduce the chance of evidence becoming useless in a prosecution.

The new TETRA handheld is built on the MTP6000 Radio Series platform. It has a wide range of data connectivity options such as integrated Bluetooth, Multi-Slot Packet Data and support for TETRA Enhanced Data Services (TEDS). This functionality enables frontline personnel to share text messages and images reliably, securely and quickly.

Danish Health has procured the MTP6750 to be used by paramedics and doctors who attend an emergency or crime scene to secure evidence.

The Connected Police Vehicle (CPV) was created after five years of field research, simulations and usability studies. The vehicle features integrated technologies for safer and more efficient frontline policing. The vehicle hotspot gives users mobility to work on a tablet or smartphone.
The CPV also has a computing and communication platform that is integrated with the CAN-bus. It combines different functionalities such as lights and sirens with key functions of the integrated TETRA radio, accessible at the touch of a single button.

The CPV scans the immediate environment with multiple Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) and video surveillance cameras and feeds back information to officers using data applications supported by mission-critical broadband connectivity.

Service from the Start (SfS) for Motorola´s TETRA Dimetra IP Small Systems provides 24×7 mission-critical support for customers as mission-critical environments cannot afford to deal with outages or system downtime.
The system is available in two different bundles, Essential and Advanced. The ‘Essential’ bundle is designed to increase system uptime with expert remote technical support around-the-clock remote technical support. With the ‘Advanced’ bundle, replacement hardware is dispatched in the next business day.
AME 2000 can help government agencies that need secure voice and data communications on a wireless network. The solution, based on Motorola’s Assured Mobile Environment (AME) solution, combines commercial-off-the shelf (COTS) devices with hardware and software to provide end-to-end encrypted voice and data communications through private or public wireless networks.
