Mobile operators name Amdocs, Ericsson top vendors in convergent charging market

Global mobile operators name
technology vendors such as Amdocs and Ericsson as the top vendors in convergent
charging market, according to Infonetics Research.

When asked who they see as the top three convergent
charging suppliers, service providers most often cited Amdocs and Ericsson,
followed by Huawei and Comverse.

The majority of service providers are using convergent
charging to support service convergence. The most important criteria service
providers cite for choosing a convergent charging supplier is product
reliability.

While operators are investing in convergent charging to
support more advanced payment models, they also clearly view these investments
as a critical component of their overall product development and marketing
strategies,” said Shira Levine, directing analyst for next gen OSS and policy
at Infonetics Research.

Convergent charging represents a way to support
marketing initiatives like cross-sell, up-sell and service bundles (for
example, offering a discount on a data service based on video usage), in
addition to the traditional benefits of reducing time to market for service
rollouts and maintaining a more consistent customer experience across payment
methods, services and regions,” Levine added.
