Telecom Lead Asia: HCL Infosystems’ revenue from telecom
and office automation business decreased to Rs 1,733 crore in the third quarter
ending 31, March 2012 from Rs 1,856 crore in the same quarter last year.
Profit from telecom and office automation business
increased to Rs 46.96 crore from 45.02 crore.
Capital employed in this segment was Rs 387.45 crore
during the third quarter.
HCL Infosystems reported consolidated revenue of Rs 2,612
crore and PBT of Rs 30 crore.
HCL Infosystems said its computer systems segment
registered strong growth across different verticals. The government segment, a
part of our enterprise business recorded an impressive performance on the back
of some major wins.
The company won a Rs 250 crore plus order from
Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu (ELCOT) under a project to provide
2 lakh units of Laptops to government and state aided schools and colleges
across the state of Tamil Nadu.
Its cloud computing business registered growth of 150
percent q-o-q. New customers gained by the business included Piaggio Vehicles,
Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Tamil Nadu, Thiess India,
Shell Lubricants, South Indian Bank, Narayana Hrudayalaya and IIM Bangalore
among others.
The business also launched new services and established
new partnerships with leading industry players like Google and Microsoft.
The Mobility Business expanded bagged new enterprise
customers including Sunpharma, Intas, Qmax, Glenmark, Education Initiative,
Edelweiss, Cleartrip, Royal Images, American Power Conversion, SIO Health Care
among others. The Mobility business recently launched the tablet range – ME TAB
U1 based on the latest Android 4.0.3 (Ice-cream Sandwich).
This quarter we have seen some positive movement in
large contracts with enterprise and government sector customers. Towards
the end of the quarter, we were awarded an LOI for a large MSP contract to
act as the managed services provider for the prestigious UIDAI Project. We have
also achieved robust growth and expansion in our IT services segments,” said
