Telecom Lead America: Oi, a provider
bundled services in Brazil, has selected outdoor Wi-Fi solution from GoNet
Systems to provide Wi-Fi in the country.
Oi offers local and long-distance voice transmission,
mobile telephony, broadband and pay TV. With the selection of GoNet Systems xRF
beamforming access points, Oi is now able to deliver broadband wireless
services across Copacabana, Leblon and Ipanema beaches in Rio de Janeiro as
well as the city of Salvador, Bahia.
When we decided to deploy outdoor Wi-Fi network, we knew
that performance in the dense and noisy environment would be an issue. However,
we built a Wi-Fi network with a superior performance in terms of coverage,
capacity and immunity to noise,” said Pedro Ripper, Innovation and New Business
director for Oi.
GoNet Systems is a provider of beamforming Wi-Fi
solutions for cellular operators and service providers. GoNet Systems claims
that its MBW access points are designed for outdoor deployments in harsh urban
conditions.
GoNet Systems is proud to be work with Oi and
deploy outdoor Wi-Fi for broadband wireless access and 3G offload in Brazil.
Our xRF beamforming solution is specifically designed for tough outdoor
environments. With cellular data increasing at such a fast pace around the
world, 3G offload to Wi-Fi is rapidly gaining acceptance as a cost-effective,
broadband solution,” said Merom Harpaz, VP Sales at GoNet Systems.
GoNet claims that the MBW access points can be deployed
in city centers and co-located with cellular BTSs, WiMAX and other Wi-Fi
devices, as these points offers special channel filters and 90 percent
effective noise mitigation.
Utilizing GoNet Systems xRF beamforming technology, the
access points deliver x2-x4 coverage and capacity.
