Globe Telecom to invest over $90 million for IT transformation

Telecom Lead Asia: Globe Telecom is investing over $90
million for its IT transformation.

The telecom operator has tied up with BSS major Amdocs to
modernize and consolidate its business support and data warehouse systems and
processes.

Globe president and CEO Ernest Cu said its partnership with
Amdocs will enable Globe to deliver increased value to its customers through
innovative product offers and efficient execution of its most strategic,
complex projects to simplify operations and establish global business-process
best practices.

Amdocs’ best-in-class business solutions will allow our
customers to experience faster responses to service requests and enjoy more
relevant product offerings, better credit control and loyalty programs, among
many other improvements,” said Cu.

The new system Amdocs is currently putting into place
will simplify business support systems and operations, as well as business
intelligence platforms.  The delivery of superior customer experience will
be the key competitive differentiator for Globe, helping it to move ahead of
competing market offers which have become more comparable as of late.

Through social media and mobile internet, customers are
now looking to share experiences and make decisions at a more rapid pace. The
partnership between Globe and Amdocs will help enable that.

Amdocs Vice President for Global Strategic Sourcing Abhay
Kumar said that customers are faced with an overwhelming blizzard of choice, and
that the partnership will allow Globe to simplify this experience for them and
offer an entirely new mobile experience at a personal level.

By converting data from the BSS systems into actionable
business intelligence, Globe will be able to personalize services as the
company will ultimately know what a particular customer wants,” Kumar added.

Recently, Globe Telecom said that it modernized at least
30 percent of its network equipment located in various cellsites nationwide.

The network modernization of Globe will also
significantly enhance its 3G footprint in more towns and municipalities,
translating to more stable 3G signal for customers as well improved mobile
browsing experience. Globe is rolling-out over 10,000 kilometers of fiber optic
cable, which will significantly increase capacity, resiliency and better
traffic management to accommodate and protect more voice, SMS, and data
traffic.
