Dell Latitude 10 tablets aid U.S. school district in better learning

Telecom Lead America: The San Antonio Independent School District has deployed Dell Latitude 10 tablets running Microsoft Windows 8 in 33 campus libraries.

The San Antonio Independent School District has 90 campus libraries at present.

The first phase of the district’s literacy initiative to support students to explore learning outside the classroom and connect to Big Universe, an integrated literacy platform, has benefited 22,000 students.

As a student is reading on the Dell Latitude 10 tablet, they are able to take notes simultaneously on the tablet to improve productivity and help increase engagement with the reading material. The Dell Latitude 10 enables students to produce content as readily as they consume it.

“The Dell Latitude 10 tablets give our students a device for self-directed learning and literacy that enables them to go beyond the text and pursue their own interests and intellectual curiosities,” said Marcos Zorola, chief information officer, San Antonio Independent School District.

According to a Harris Interactive survey — commissioned by Dell and Intel — 59 percent of school system IT decision makers and administrators say choosing devices that integrate with their existing IT infrastructure and that can be managed by existing tools is the best way to minimize total cost of ownership for tablets.
