China Telecom 3G subscriber base reaches 112.5 million

China Telecom 3G subscriber base has reached 112.51 million in Q3 2014 against 107.24 million in Q2 and 104.14 million in Q1.

The Chinese mobile service provider added 5.27 million 3G subscribers in third quarter, 3.1 million in second quarter and 1.03 million in first quarter of 2014.

China Telecom 4G LTE network reached 16 cities in July and 24 more cities in September. Following this, China Telecom had net increase of 1.33 million subscribers in the third quarter.

China Telecom’s total mobile subscriber base during the first nine months of 2014 increased marginally to 181.57 million from 181.14 million in the same period last year. Voice minutes of China Telecom network increased to 489.1 billion from 444.4 billion.

Increasing market competition driven by the launch of 4G LTE services and marketing promotion by rivals China Mobile impacted the growth in the number of mobile subscribers.

Announcing the result for 9 months, China Telecom said its operating revenues rose 2.2 percent to RMB 243,608 million, while profit grew 9.8 percent to RMB 16,169 million.
