BT Capex in Q3 up 2 percent to $957 million

BT Group on Friday said its Capex (capital spending) in the third quarter of fiscal 2014 rose 2 percent to $957 million (£581 million).

Capex of BT Group decreased 1 percent to $2.92 billion (£1,772 million) in nine months of fiscal 2014.

BT Group third quarter revenue grew 2 percent to £4,599 million.

Its profit before tax rose 8 percent to £722 million.

BT said its revenue from BT Global Services was £1,794 million, BT Retail £1,875 million, BT Wholesale £589 million and Openreach £1,274 million.

Gavin Patterson, chief executive, BT, said: “Our investments are delivering. It was another record quarter for fibre take-up and there are now more than 18 million premises with access to our fibre. That number will grow further as the BDUK program progresses. Fibre helps SMEs to compete and underpins our TV plans.”

BT says its direct BT Sport customer base passed 2.5 million in the quarter and helped to support 6 percent revenue growth in Consumer business.

Outside the UK, BT businesses in the high-growth regions of the world delivered double-digit revenue growth.
