Brother Industries selects AT&T for supplying communications services and applications

Telecom Lead Asia: Brother Industries (Brother), a
provider of communications and printing equipment, has selected AT&T as its
global supplier of communications services and applications.

AT&T’s network solution will enable Brother to
operate more efficiently, allowing the company to execute its global plans to
expand across Asia.

In the first phase, AT&T connected 42 Brother sites
in North America and Europe to its global Virtual Private Network (VPN). In the
second, AT&T extended this connectivity to six sites in the Asia-Pacific
region.

Tomoyuki Hasegawa, managing executive officer of Brother
Industries, said a centralized and global communications platform, managed by
AT&T, will help the company implement its global business strategies.

Brother selected AT&T because it needed a provider
that could deliver a complete communications infrastructure solution to support
its global operations, while offering scalability to accommodate plans to
expand sales in Asia and the rest of the world.

Manabu Oka, president of AT&T Japan, said meeting the
requirements of a global company like Brother demonstrates AT&T’s ability
to deliver services and applications demanded by the world’s largest companies.

AT&T previously helped Brother to manage its
networking communications in the US to support critical business applications.

Thanks to AT&T’s VPN services, Brother could
standardize the functions, specifications and operation of its network
infrastructure.

The company will also be simplifying complex operational
and management processes to swiftly implement IT strategies in response to
changes in the business environment. The company also ensured easier routing
across the network to improve performance, while reducing costs through the
elimination of separate inter-region networks.
