Telecom Lead India: NSTPL is getting ready to take on the dominant cable industry and DTH players with its JAINHITS, India’s first Direct to Network (DTN) service based on the HITS (Headend-In-The-Sky) technology.
The main attraction to the existing cable and DTH users will be a variety offerings such as triple play services including video, voice and data.
Last year, JAINHITS partnered with Motorola as its technology partner and Intelsat as its satellite partner.
JAINHITS will offer pan India cable service, delivering 200 – 500 digital channels (including SD & HD), broadband, Interactive TV, value added services and connected homes.
“With no ground presence, it is the only player with bulk Satellite capacity to launch HITS. No other suitable capacity is available for HITS before the pan India digitization deadline,” said a top official with JAINHITS.
JAINHITS is in the process of adding cable operators as its partners to spread its services across the country.
The company says cable operators — during Cable digitization — are forced to invest around Rs 2-3 crore for buying their own headend, infrastructure, etc.
If Indian cable operators are partnering with JAINHITS, they will benefit from clean and compact solution to digitise network. In addition, JAINHITS will take care their problems during digitisation.
When they partner with JAINHITS, cable operators’ investment will be around Rs 15 lakh.

JAINHITS says its partnership with Motorola enables the company to deliver next generation content experiences through mobile devices/tablets to meet the demands of subscribers.
JAINHITS is planning to build Broadband Access Networks partnering with LCO’s / ISO’s.
Presently, India is having 125 mn cable and satellite home connected via 70000 LCO and 7500 MSO across India. Only 5 percent of the total MSO’s and LCO’s in India are only providing the internet service.
JAINHITS offers two categories of Internet solutions i.e. lease line Internet and broadband Internet. Lease Line Internet’s speed ranges from 2 Mbps to 155 Mbps, while broadband speed ranges from 256 Kbps onwards up to 20 Mbps.
