Broadcom supplies MPEG-4 SD STB to Tata Sky

DTH provider Tata Sky has selected Broadcom’s integrated system-on-a-chip (SoC) devices to enable Tata Sky’s first MPEG-4 standard definition (SD) STB.

Broadcom’s MPEG-4 SD STB assists Tata Sky to deliver more content to subscribers with better optimized channel bandwidth.

Harit Nagpal, Tata Sky CEO, said:  “Our goal is to enable our customers to enjoy the growing volume of television content and interactive services available for home entertainment and information.”

Broadcom’s satellite set-top box devices, which are energy-efficient, will address the needs of Tata Sky subscribers while also reducing power and energy requirements in the home.

Tata Sky offers satellite television service to more than 10 million subscribers in India.
