TV Azteca bags fiber optic network contract in Peru

Spanish-language television programming producer TV Azteca has bagged a contract to install and operate a fiber optic network in Peru.

The fiber optic network of 13,400 kilometers will cover nearly 80 percent of Peru.

The aim of the project is to build network in 339 communities and the commercialization of telecom services.

The contribution of the Peruvian government will be approximately $760 million to build the network.

The government is aiming to complete the project in two years starting in 2014.

In a statement, Azteca, which is currently building the largest fiber optic network in Latin America, in Colombia, said it will have better growth in the future, as well as revenue diversification and strengthening that will add to the strong performance of its broadcast television business.
