Swisscom deploys Quantenna-based dual band router

Telecom Lead Europe: Swisscom is deploying a dual concurrent band router, a new Quantenna based WLAN product, for broadband customers in Switzerland.

The dual concurrent dual band router features Quantenna 4×4 802.11n MIMO technology and enables wireless streaming of video content throughout the home to multiple TVs as well as to tablets and smart phones.

The new Magic-Box router is an open access point that interoperates with third party clients such as tablets and smart phones.

“Swisscom has been deploying multiple generations of Quantenna based products which deliver best carrier grade performance. Swisscom is constantly innovating and bringing leading edge technologies to their customer,” said Andreas Martschitsch, head of home network at Swisscom.

Swisscom is also collaborating in the future with Quantenna to bring their next generation products for unique carrier grade video features.

Quantenna 802.11n and 802.11ac Wi-Fi products solve home networking challenges, of delivering ultra-reliable, high-speed wireless coverage throughout the whole home. This enables service providers to save millions on deploying multi-room DVR for pay TV services.

Sam Heidari, CEO at Quantenna, said: “Quantenna solutions are enabling service providers to open their network to consumer devices without sacrificing the quality of their pay-tv video service. Quantenna added features allow the efficient use of the bandwidth while always protecting the quality of the pay video that service providers offer.”
