Indonesia Telkom, ZTE set up GPON network for APEC CEO Summit 2013 Bali

Chinese telecom equipment vendor ZTE on Monday said it helped Indonesia Telkom to provide GPON network services to attendees of the APEC CEO Summit 2013 in Bali, Indonesia.

ZTE, which competes with Chinese telecom equipment vendor Huawei and companies such as Alcatel-Lucent, Ericsson, NSN, Cisco, NEC, etc. built the GPON network exclusively for Indonesia Telkom, the country’s largest fixed network operator.

During the event, ZTE operation and maintenance teams worked with Telkom to ensure that the network ran securely.

The GPON network was designed to provide the participating APEC CEO Summit government leaders, business executives and journalists with reliable, efficient broadband services. Construction of the network began in September 2013.

As part of the network construction project, ZTE provided a full-service optical access platform, the ZXA10 C300, to Telkom. The platform supports smooth evolution to next-generation PON technology. In addition, its cross-OLT Type C protection scheme lets an ONU connect to two remote OLTs through two links to achieve security and guarantee smooth communications.

ZTE’s PON OLT and ONT/ONU shipments are both market share leaders, accounting for 42 percent and 32 percent of the global market respectively.
