China Mobile ARPU grew 0.9% thanks to 5G+ plan

China Mobile has reported operating revenue of RMB198.4 billion (+9.5 percent), EBITDA of RMB72.1 billion (+5.2 percent) and profit of RMB24.1 billion (+2.3 percent) during the first quarter of 2021.
China Mobile 5G storeChina Mobile has recorded around 940 million mobile customers as at 31 March 2021. Among them, 4G customers, 5G package customers and 5G network customers amounted to 788 million, 189 million and 92.76 million respectively.

Handset data traffic recorded an increase of 37.3 percent and handset data DOU reaching 11.2GB. Total voice usage increased by 8.3 percent year-on-year to 716.6 billion minutes. Total SMS usage dropped by 12.6 percent to 211.1 billion messages.

China Mobile said the implementation of the 5G+ plan enabled the Group to achieve 0.9 percent rise in mobile ARPU to RMB47.4 for the first quarter of the year.

China Mobile has 218 million wireline broadband customers, with a net increase of 8.10 million for the first quarter of the year. Wireline broadband ARPU grew by 1.6 percent to RMB31.8.
