Telecom Lead Asia: Sandvine, a provider of
intelligent broadband network solutions for fixed and mobile operators, has
completed IPv6 protocol testing with its Policy Traffic Switch (PTS) in a
South East Asian DSL network hosting close to two million subscribers.
“Service providers, especially those in Asia, are
adding a significant number of new broadband subscribers each year and have a
real need to bring IPv6 to their networks. Our platform scales from the
smallest to the largest networks worldwide, making us an ideal partner for our
customers as they expand and evolve their networks,” said Tom Donnelly, COO,
sales and global services, Sandvine.
The explosive growth of web-connected devices has created
a need for more IP addresses than are possible with IPv4, thus IPv6 is being
introduced.
“We are committed to delivering our customers the
products and intelligence they need today, so they can make strategic decisions
for tomorrow,” Donnelly added.
The communications service providers worldwide, including
those rolling out LTE, are upgrading their networks with IPv6-capable
equipment.
The migration to IPv6 is imminent, evidenced by the
number of major ISPs, content providers and networking equipment manufacturers
who are permanently launching IPv6 for their products and services by June
2012.
The company said that it offers tools for service
providers to analyze their network capabilities of native and transitional IPv6
protocols such as Teredo and 6RD.
ZyXEL demonstrates readiness for IPv6 standard
Recently, ZyXEL Communications, a global networking
company announced it is ready for new Internet protocol version 6 (IPv6)
standard.
The new standard is expected to become the mainstream
Internet protocol of the future. The latest protocol aka IPv6 will be launched
on June 6, 2012.
23% ISPs implemented IPv6, more to join in 2012: Nominum Survey
23 percent ISPs surveyed throughout North America, Japan,
Europe and Latin America have already implemented IPv6, while 35 percent say
they plan to do so in 2012, according to Nominum, a provider of integrated
DNS-based applications and solutions.
