Globe Telecom, Aboitiz InfraCapital, and Frontier Tower Associates Philippines (FTAP) signed a telecom tower agreement to improve connectivity in Cebu, Davao, and Olongapo.
The MOU will explore the possibility of leasing build-to-suit sites, towers, and other passive telecom infrastructure and facilities.
Globe President and CEO Ernest Cu said its common tower agreement with Aboitiz-Frontier Towers will focus on improving connectivity in Cebu, Davao, and Olongapo by building and deploying the needed telco infrastructure in the most efficient way.
Aboitiz InfraCapital chief operating officer Cosette V Canilao said the passive infrastructure, which includes towers and support structures among others, will also be made available to other telecom service providers in the Philippines.
The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) aims to roll out at least 50,000 new common towers in the next 7-10 years. Recently, the government agency announced its plans to accelerate the building of 2,500 common towers in properties owned by government agencies.
