Microsoft announced two important deals with its clients – Telefonica and Singtel — at the Mobile World Congress (MWC 2019) in Barcelona.
Earlier Microsoft reported revenue of $32.5 billion (+12 percent) with operating income of $10.3 billion (+18 percent) in Dec quarter of 2018.
Microsoft’ Intelligent Cloud revenue was $9.4 billion (+20 percent) driven by 24 percent growth in server products and cloud services. Microsoft achieved Azure revenue growth of 76 percent.
Singtel
Singtel has selected Microsoft to launch an AI-Powered IoT Network over Microsoft Azure cloud platform.
Diomedes Kastanis, head of IoT at Singtel, said: “AI-powered intelligent connectivity over Microsoft Azure will be the fastest connected path for IoT innovators to scale globally.”
Telefonica
Telefonica will expand the use of Azure Cognitive Services for customer engagement and business processes, create new AI-powered, in-home experiences for customers, and explore the use of intelligent technologies to transform the network.
Microsoft’s Azure Cognitive Services currently power Aura, which is embedded in channels such as mobile apps, Telefonica’s pay-tv service and its call centers in Brazil.
Telefonica will extend Microsoft’s Aura and Azure Cognitive Services to all customer relationship channels, such as its contact centers in other countries, social media and web services, as well as employee- and supplier-facing channels.
Telefonica will evaluate developing Telefonica’s Home as a Computer (HaaC) vision to use Azure Cognitive Services and Azure AI services with other Telefonica services. Telefonica will create an ecosystem of Aura Living Apps built on Azure that will run on all Telefonica devices at home.
Microsoft and Telefonica will identify opportunities using AI and disruptive technologies like blockchain, 5G and edge computing to transform services and build future network.
Jose Maria Alvarez-Pallete, CEO of Telefonica, said: “We are already using AI to enhance our customer relationships and will work with Microsoft to harness the power of Azure AI.”
D-Link
D-Link announced its partnership with Microsoft to provide intelligent edge solutions for both businesses and cities. D-Link’s smart city solutions leverage Azure Machine Learning platform, AZURE media services and Azure IoT Edge to deliver seamless machine learning, modeling, conversion, deployment, and video analytics in one coherent loop.
