Keysight supplies 5G device testing tools to MediaTek

Keysight Technologies announced that the company has supplied its 5G virtual drive testing (VDT) Toolset in assisting chipset major MediaTek to validate data throughput performance of multimode 5G New Radio (NR) Devices.
MediaTek Helio P90 with AIThe US-based test and measurement company said its VDT Toolset enables chipset makers such as Intel, Qualcomm and MediaTek and 5G device manufacturers such as Samsung and Apple to bridge the gap between lab and field testing.

The VDT Toolset uses data captured in the field to build tests. These are replayed in the field in a controlled laboratory environment as needed – enabling MediaTek engineers to validate the performance of new 5G products under mobile user conditions such as video streaming, web browsing, and voice calls without running consuming field tests.

MediaTek currently uses Keysight’s VDT Toolset — based on Keysight’s PROPSIM F64 5G channel emulator, which emulates real-world radio frequency (RF) network conditions, to validate 4G devices for operation in high speed train (HST) scenarios.

Keysight’s Nemo field test solution enables users to capture data in the field. This data is subsequently imported into the Keysight VDT Toolset for test case creation, resulting in reliable and repeatable RF replay in a controlled laboratory environment.

Users of Keysight’s VDT Toolset can benchmark multimode 5G NR devices and resolve field issues by using the same tools and mobile user conditions in the field as in the lab, said Janne Kolu, head of VDT solutions at Keysight Technologies.
