Ceragon Networks signs $26 mn network deal with Orocom

Ceragon Networks announced its $26 million network deal with Orocom, a new telecom operator in Peru, to assist in providing broadband in rural regions.
Ceragon Networks at a trade showOrocom will use Ceragon’s wireless broadband networks to offer broadband in the rural regions of Junin, Puno and Moquegua-Tacna.

Ceragon Networks, a leading wireless backhaul company, said total orders from this project may reach $36 million and it expects to recognize most of the revenues from this project in the next two years.

Leading mobile operators in Peru are Bitel, Claro, Entel and Telefonica Movistar.

Peruvian Government (FITEL) selected Orocom, a consortium of telecom license holders as well as fiber-based technology companies, for deployment of transport and broadband access networks in three of six regions, using both fiber and wireless technologies.

Ceragon said it will provide wireless backhaul and wireless access solutions including network design, equipment, deployment and integration services, as well as advisory services.

Ceragon will provide its IP-20 Platform for wireless backhaul equipment — overcoming microwave signal propagation challenges over the lakes and deserts of South Peru. In addition, Ceragon will provide equipment for delivering internet and enterprise data services to government, healthcare, education and public safety institutions in the region.
