Keysight, Tech Mahindra ink 5G testing agreement

Keysight 5G device testingKeysight Technologies announced its agreement with Tech Mahindra for 5G global test labs.

The association will assist Tech Mahindra to accelerate 5G device development, verification, and certification of 5G devices.

“Nearly 5 percent of handsets sold in 2021 will be 5G smartphones and the number will grow by 2023,” Ken Hyers, director at Strategy Analytics, said.

Research firm TBR estimates over 85 percent of communication service provider (CSP) 5G Capex spend will occur in four countries through 2020 (the U.S., China, Japan and South Korea).

Keysight said its 5G network emulation solutions  enable device and chipset manufacturers to prototype and develop pre-5G and 3GPP 5G New Radio (NR) chipsets and devices enhancing go-to-marketing plans.

Tech Mahindra 5G test specialists at multiple Tech Mahindra Lab centers in the US and India will support the 5G collaboration.

“Keysight is committed to facilitating 5G workflow with design verification tools that help debug and validate the performance of pre-5G and 5G NR devices, as well as through our relationship with Tech Mahindra which results in on-demand access to these development tools,” said Satish Dhanasekaran, president, Communications Solutions Group, Keysight.

“Tech Mahindra is a leader in device testing for GCF/PTCRB and Operator Certifications,” said Karthikeyan Natarajan, global head – Engineering & IOT, Tech Mahindra.

Keysight’s 5G development test solutions provide insight to analyze and debug the behavior of 5G devices through the development process to chipset and device manufacturers.

Last year, Keysight announced that its 5G network emulation solutions, including 5G Protocol R&D and RF Design Verification Toolsets, support the new 3GPP 5G NR Non-Standalone standard.

Earlier, Keysight Technologies announced a collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies to support chipset development for 5G devices.

Keysight’s new 5G network emulation solutions portfolio, supported by Keysight’s new UXM 5G wireless test platform, enables Qualcomm Technologies to validate the chipset technology and the higher-layer protocols needed for 5G.
