Gilat Satellite Networks inks 3-year managed service deal with Sprint

sprint-and-technologyUS wireless operator Sprint has expanded its contract with Gilat Satellite Networks to include a 3-year managed service project.

This telecom project includes services and technology to enable Sprint to expand its network coverage.

The multi-million dollar managed service deal with Sprint proves that satellite based LTE cellular backhauling is becoming mainstream for affordable broadband. Sprint is the fourth largest wireless operator in the U.S. behind AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile.

Gilat Satellite Networks will provide both services and the equipment to operate Sprint’s 3G and LTE networks in selected areas for cellular backhaul and other applications. Gilat Satellite Networks will deliver services to remote cell sites over a 3-year period with an optional extension, to support Sprint’s network coverage and expansion plans.

“This project is a testament to our ongoing technological leadership and also to Gilat’s experience in delivering a highly reliable service, meeting the rigorous service level agreements (SLAs), which will enable Sprint to roll out its LTE network rapidly throughout the US,” said Michal Aharonov, VP Commercial at Gilat.
