Cisco, Citrix, and F5 are top 3 application delivery controller vendors in 2011

Telecom Lead India: Application Delivery Controller
revenue increased over 10 percent in 2011 to approximately $1.4 billion. Cisco,
Citrix, and F5 are top 3 application delivery controller vendors in 2011.

2012 will be an important year to see how virtual
appliances take form in the application delivery controller market. While the
technology is still in the early stages, virtual appliances comprised 3 percent
of revenue during the quarter. Vendors such as A10, Citrix, F5, and Riverbed
currently have offerings in the virtual application delivery controller market.

Data center build outs, consolidation, and the continued
preference of users bringing their own devices as well as increased
applications on each device will drive robust growth in 2012. ADCs will be
continuing to expand their role in network intelligence beyond basic load
balancing and further into security services such as authentication.

We also believe that this market is less prone to
current worldwide economic uncertainty over the next several quarters because
it focuses solely on the data center. New deployments in the Cloud, such as
Facebook or Google, as well as data center consolidation projects both tend to
have strong growth regardless of unemployment levels or GDP growth,” said Alan
Weckel, senior director of Ethernet Switch Market Research at Dell’Oro Group.
