Huawei, DT and KDDI Labs demonstrate OIF Ethernet-over-OTN interoperability

Telecom Lead India: Chinese mobile equipment major Huawei
has demonstrated Ethernet-over-OTN interoperability tests with Deutsche Telekom
(DT) and KDDI R&D Laboratories (KDDI Labs).

The Optical Internetworking Forum (OIF) conducted the
test to showcase the multi-vendor interoperability of Ethernet services in a
multi-carrier environment over OTN transport. The demonstration focused on both
data and control plane technology.

A Huawei press release said the DT and KDDI labs test
networks employed Huawei’s terabit OSN product, which is capable of providing
OTN and data solutions for future transport networks.

The tests involved GE/10GE EPL/EVPL service
interoperability, ODUk/ODUflex mapping and encapsulation, ODUk/ODUflex overhead
interoperability, ODUk SNCP cross-domain protection, and OTUk ENNI
interoperability.

The integration of GMPLS/ASON control plane features into
OTN results in greater bandwidth efficiency, simplified O&M, faster service
provisioning, and enhanced network reliability. Huawei takes the lead in
unveiling an OTN solution that supports GMPLS/ASON control plane features at
both the optical and electrical layers. Huawei has deployed over 70 commercial
OTN GMPLS/ASON networks worldwide.

Huawei claims that it ranked No. 1 in the global optical
network market, WDM/OTN market, and 40G network market as of Q3 2011. Huawei
has deployed over 16 commercial and 50 trial 100G networks to date.

As a pioneer in the transport network field, Huawei
provides products such as WDM/OTN/ MS-OTN, MSTP/Hybrid MSTP, microwave
products, and end-to-end network solutions.

Huawei exhibits wireless modules and solutions range at CeBIT
2012

Recently, Huawei showcased its diversified wireless
module and solutions at CeBIT 2012. The company is exhibiting its modules of
wireless terminals, consumer electronics as well as its entry into the M2M
solutions field. Its CE modules include the world’s slimmest and most compact
modules – the MU733 and MU739 modules.
