DSP Group launch VoIP chipset that powers Gigaset DECT IP multicell system at CeBIT

Telecom Lead at CeBIT: DSP Group, a global provider of
wireless chipset solutions, and Gigaset Communications, a DECT cordless phone
manufacturer in Europe, announced that DSP Group’s XciteR VoIP chipset solution
is powering Gigaset’s N720 DECT IP Multicell System.

The new system enables office workers to leverage
telephone systems and enjoy an enhanced user experience. The N720 solution
brings mobility at small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to a new level.

The product will be launched at CeBIT 2012 on March 6-10,
2012 in Hanover, Germany.

“Adding our XciteR chipset solution to Gigaset’s new
multicell system strengthens our longstanding successful relationship with a
proven leader in DECT telephony,” said Oz Zimerman, Corporate VP of
Marketing and Business Development at DSP Group.

The N720 solution connects up to 20 base stations and 100
handsets. Leveraging DECT roaming and handover features supported by Gigaset’s
enterprise DECT software, the N720 enables employees to move around their
building or campus while making phone calls.

The system also supports high definition sound
performance to ensure clear, studio-quality sound. Easy to install and
configure, the N720 is built with power over Ethernet (PoE) technology, thereby
requiring no additional plug points.

The N720 IP PRO base station is powered by two XciteR
DVFD8185 system-on-a-chip (SoC) solutions, each anchored by a high-performance
ARM926 application processor and strong DSP processor.

Featuring DSP Group‘s XciteR DRF1902, the chipset solution
enables DECT coverage and full DECT frame utilization for maximizing the number
of handsets with non-blind-slot RF technology.

Already powering several Gigaset cordless base terminals,
the future-proof XciteR facilitates fast and cost-efficient development of
high-performance, fully featured IP and multi-function phones for the
residential, small office/home office (SOHO) and SME markets.

“The release of the N720 multicell system is another
important step in bringing our DECT and VoIP expertise to the corporate arena.
By teaming up with DSP Group, the world leader in DECT and VoIP chipsets, we
now offer SMEs the best of both technologies at Gigaset’s best-in-class quality
level, enabling them to cut communications costs while improving user
experience,” said Ludger Rathmer, vice president, Product Development of
Gigaset.

DSP Group powers Gigaset DECT and desktop IP/office phones

Recently, DSP Group announced that its XciteR chipset
solution is powering the base station of the Gigaset flagship phone SL910 /
SL910A as also the DX800A high end IP phone developed and manufactured by
Gigaset Communications.
