Verizon Communications has hired Ronan Dunne, formerly CEO of O2 UK, as executive vice president and group president of Verizon Wireless.

Verizon Wireless last month said its Q2 2016 revenue fell 4 percent to $21.7 billion, as customers continued to select unsubsidized device payment plans.

Service revenues plus device payment plan billings of Verizon Wireless increased 2.3 percent to $19.1 billion. Verizon Wireless added 615,000 retail postpaid connections in Q2 2016. Approximately 93 percent of Verizon’s total data traffic is on the LTE network. Data traffic on LTE has increased by about 44 percent year over year.

The New York City headquartered Verizon Communications has generated nearly $132 billion revenue in 2015. Verizon Wireless has 113.2 million subscribers.

Before joining Verizon, Ronan Dunne worked as CEO of O2 UK, the second largest wireless operator in the United Kingdom, for the past eight years. Ronan Dunne was also a member of the Executive Committee of parent Telefonica.

At O2 UK, Ronan Dunne significantly improved its growth trajectory through market leadership in brand, customer satisfaction and loyalty, making it the most successful wireless operation in the UK and the most efficient within the Telefonica Group.

Ronan Dunne will report to John Stratton, executive vice president and president of Operations.

At Verizon Communications, Ronan Dunne will be responsible for all aspects of Verizon Wireless’ operations, including marketing operations, wireless operations, network operations, customer care and digital operations.
