Indus Towers appoints Tejinder Kalra as COO

Indian telecom tower company Indus Towers today announced the appointment of Nokia veteran Tejinder Kalra as the chief operating officer.

Indus Towers, a joint venture among Bharti Airtel, Idea Cellular and Vodafone India, has a presence in the 15 major telecom circles of India, and has achieved over 270,006 tenancies till date. Indus Towers has over 119,881 towers in the country.

Recently, Indus Towers has appointed Bimal Dayal as chief executive officer.

At Nokia, a top telecom equipment company, Tejinder Kalra was the global head for Bharti Airtel Business in his most recent role. Tejinder Kalra worked with Nokia for over 13 years. In his last role, Tejinder Kalra managed the end to end P&L ownership for Bharti Telecom business globally. Bharti Airtel has presence in India, South Asia and Africa.

Tejinder Kalra was also the sub-region head for Central, East and Western Africa in an earlier role where he helped set-up Nokia’s Airtel operations in Africa.

Recently, Nokia announced the appointment of Sanjay Malik as the head for Indian operations. Sanjay Malik replaced Sandeep Girotra, who became the head of Asia Pacific including Japan region of Nokia.

Tejinder Kalra has also associated with Reliance Infocomm, Satyam Infoway, Sprint RPG India among other organizations in the past.
