Vodafone 4G launched at Kochi, to expand to 4 metros

Building on the impetus created by Airtel for 4G in India, Vodafone India has rolled out its next generation  high-speed Vodafone 4G network in India at Kochi, Kerala.

Vodafone’s 4G service in Kochi to be available for customers from 14th December.

Vodafone will roll out the service to four metros – Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru and Kolkata in the first phase.

Testing of 4G services in these locations has already commenced successfully and Vodafone India has partnered with leading global technology service providers for the network roll-out.

The service is offered on its 1800 MHz band, enabling its customers to access internet via mobile across a range of smart devices including Mobile Wi-Fi.

Vodafone 4G LTE services can be accessed from 4G enabled handsets from leading providers in India and abroad, the company said.

Vodafone 4G will significantly enhance the mobile internet experience by enabling faster video/music uploads and downloads, offering seamless video chats and connecting favorite apps with greater ease. The service supports high definition video streaming, mobile gaming and two-way video calling.

The 4G service is supported by its own new and superfast 3G services on a modern network of 2100 MHz, Vodafone said.

Announcing the launch of Vodafone 4G service in India, Sunil Sood, MD & CEO, Vodafone India, said, “As a steadfast partner of Digital India, we remain focused on deploying multiple technologies –be it 2G, 3G and now 4G-for optimum use as  each technology has its own vital role to play in servicing the myriad connectivity needs of consumers across the country. ”

Vodafone is offering free upgrade to 4G for all Vodafone customers in Kochi along with Superfast 4G SIM.

The service offers free unlimited movie subscription through a partnership with Hungama Play – access to 7500 + titles (including 200+ Malayalam movies) for 3 months.

Users can listen and stream latest songs with free unlimited music streaming on Vodafone Music.

Vodafone also offers 100 percent extra data for all 4G RED customers for three months.

Vodafone 4G packs range from a trial pack of 120MB at Rs 29 to a bonanza pack of 20GB at Rs 2499.

Users can connect up to 10 devices with mobile Wi-Fi.

Commenting on the launch of 4G in Kochi, Abhijit Kishore, business head –Kerala, Vodafone India said, “Kerala is a significant growth market for Vodafone India with data revenue growing over 75% annually, which is well above the national average.”

Within the state, Vodafone will expand the service to Trivandrum and Kozhikode, Kishore added.

Kerala is a focus market for Vodafone India. Over the last 18 months, the company has invested more than Rs 700 crores in Kerala towards network expansion and modernization to build a technology and energy efficient network architecture to support the volumes and need for speed from customers.
