Airtel announces mobile literacy digital mission in Andhra

Telecom network operator Bharti Airtel has joined hands with Andhra Pradesh Government for a mobile literacy digital mission in association with SERP.

The mobile service provider company has rolled out E-Shakti, an initiative to build mobile internet awareness and literacy among women in Andhra Pradesh.

Launching the initiative in Vijayawada today, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said: “e-shakti will be an ecosystem of digital literacy awareness, education and training that will help the women folk of the state of Andhra Pradesh to take a lead in the global digital economy and help us shape a technologically empowered society.”
Venkatesh Vijayraghavan, chief executive officer, Andhra Pradesh & Telangana, Bharti Airtel, said the increased adoption of Internet among women in Andhra Pradesh would bridge a digital divide as they connect and access a range of information.

Andhra Pradesh Government has identified the girl students from Government schools and colleges and women employees of various Government departments as the beneficiaries of E-Shakti initiative. The Govt. will conduct the first phase of the initiative across Vijayawada and Vishakapatnam districts in Andhra Pradesh.

The training will include elementary knowledge pertaining to internet, email usage, browsers, YouTube, IRCTC, State Government portals and mobile apps and other apps of daily use including social media. They will conduct the training in Telugu aided by videos to 70-90 members in each session.
