Vodafone invests Rs 300 crore for telecom network in Karnataka

Vodafone India has invested over Rs 300 crore to expand its mobile network and distribution in the Karnataka telecom circle between April 2014 and March 2015.

The telecom service provider has added over 400 new sites and 67 retail touch points in Karnataka. Vodafone has more than 9,250 2G sites in over 13,850 towns and villages. Its telecom sites cover over 76 percent of population. Vodafone 3G reaches an additional 161 towns and villages in the Karnataka state.

Data revenues from Vodafone Karnataka rose 68 percent and data now contributes to 17 percent of total service revenues of Karnataka circle.

Vodafone India has more than 869 retail touch points in Karnataka, including 60 Vodafone stores, 176 Vodafone Mini Stores and over 633 DDVMS and ADVMS (rural mini stores). Vodafone has added 17 Vodafone Stores and 50 Vodafone Mini Stores in the region over the past 12 months. Vodafone has 21 Global Design Retail stores in Karnataka.

Vodafone has 4,400 M-Pesa agents in Karnataka and a customer base of 1.5 lakh.
