Videocon Telecom is planning to invest Rs 210 crore in Gujarat in FY 2015-16 on network expansion, branded retail and emerging business.
The investment will include deployment of over 450 new cell sites to increase its network footprint in the Gujarat telecom circle.
Arvind Bali, director and CEO, Videocon Telecommunications, said: “Our investment will primarily be on Network expansion and rollout of broadband services, in addition to other emerging businesses.”
The Indian telecom operator said 330 sites will be for geographical coverage expansion across 142 new towns for taking up the overall coverage to 978 towns, and another 120 sites for capacity enhancement.
Videocon Telecom plans to acquire 3.5 million new customers this financial year in Gujarat telecom circle.
It will be investing to enhance its packet core to accommodate data usage on its recently upgraded 2.75G EDGE network.
Videocon Telecom currently has 3,989 cell sites in Gujarat and provides network coverage across 836 towns in Gujarat.
Videocon Telecom will also be rolling out broadband services on the free band 2.4 Ghz spectrum — primarily on FTTH (fiber to the home) in select cities of Gujarat. Videocon Telecom plans to rollout Broadband services in select pockets across key cities incl Ahmedabad, Surat and Vadodara in phase 1 of the launch.
The company also plans to venture into B2C and B2B solutions, mobile wallet and e-commerce space. Videocon Telecom will be offering services including Smart city solutions, security solutions, E-surveillance, Android and iOS platform based application including content and games. Videocon Telecom will also be venturing into world sim for international travelers.
Videocon Telecom said it inaugurated its 500th exclusive branded retail store in Ahmedabad. It plans to add another 250 stores this year across its operating circle.
