Turkcell, Ericsson test VoLTE in Istanbul

Turkcell in association with Ericsson has tested VoLTE in its 4G testing area in Istanbul.

Turkcell becomes the first Turkish operator to test VoLTE.

Ilker Kuruoz,  chief technology officer of Turkcell, said: “Our goal is to be among the first operators to offer enriched VoLTE so that Turkcell customers can be among the first users of this technology in the world.”

In a separate test, Turkcell achieved 450 Mbps LTE-A data speeds on a single device with carrier aggregation technology.

Meanwhile, Turkey will conduct spectrum auction on May 26, 2015. Operators need launch 4G LTE services by the end of 2015.
