Traffic trading platform

Huawei said the world’s first traffic trading platform – being showcased at MWC 2015 — is designed to enable telecom operators to transition from customer-centric model to a B2B operational model – aiming enterprises and monetizing traffic assets.

The Chinese network vendor aims at empowering operators to address issues related to outdated data operating capabilities, decreasing traffic value and OTT challenges.

The B2B model enables enterprises and vendors to offer traffic as promotional gifts to users. Those who receive the gift can use it to buy digital products, and also send it to others. Huawei’s traffic trading platform also makes it easy for enterprise, vendors, and OTT service providers to buy traffic, and identify target customers using big data analysis and insight methodologies together with third parties.

The new traffic trading platform can be utilized by telecoms to monetize their traffic assets. This apart, operators can use their user data to build a partner big data analysis platform and work with partners by leveraging data products including user preference tags and geographical grid tags to analyze into industries and enterprise customers.

Modular data center solution

Huawei’s modular data center solution to be showcased at the MWC 2015 adopts a modular architecture with integrated interface, component, and system including power, cooling, cabinet and management system.

The solution also features the advantages of easy installation and maintenance, rapid deployment, and capacity expansion. Customers can copy the module to expand capacity of the data center with no need to redesign thus avoiding additional investment.

Huawei said it has deployed more than 480 data centers around the world including 160 cloud data centers.

Huawei 4.5G strategy

Huawei said 4.5G, which was showcased in London as part of pre-briefing for MWC 2015, will boost technologies such as mobile virtual reality glasses, smart metering and drones. 4.5G promises up to 1Gbps bandwidth on mobile networks.

4.5G will make cellular IoT a reality. Industry applications such as smart metering require low-power terminals and better network coverage. 4.5G supports up to 100K per cell connections via LTE-M, 100 times that of 4G. LTE-M provides better coverage using low-power terminals with 10 year battery life. Receivers require just 1/100th of the signal of existing 2G system with 20dB gain.

“We expect 4.5G to be deployed commercially by as soon as 2016: In the next five years, 4.5G will accelerate incredible industry wide developments, create new and exciting business opportunities, and provide the ultimate user experience,” said Bob Cai, vice president of Marketing, Huawei Wireless Network Product Line.

Huawei is also aiming to open digital ecosystem, enabling ICT transformation, and evolving ultra-mobile broadband in the digital era.
