New Call Telecom acquires wholesale voice biz WaveCrest

New Call Telecom has acquired international wholesale voice business WaveCrest.

The company did not announce the size of the acquisition. New Call Telecom earlier announced that it would invest in Indian broadband companies.

Last month, New Call Telecom acquired mobile messaging company Nimbuzz with more than 200 million users.

New Call Chairman Jerome Booth (in pix) said that the global telecoms sector is changing fast and through targeted acquisitions such as WaveCrest and Nimbuzz, the company will be in a position to capitalize on this worldwide telecoms explosion.

The London-headquartered WaveCrest has offices in Dubai, New York, Milan, Paris and Frankfurt to provide international calling solutions to retail brand owners, other operators and end users. WaveCrest terminates in excess of 3 billion voice minutes per year and generates revenues approaching $120 million.

Nigel Eastwood, CEO of New Call Telecom, said: “The acquisition is in line with our global expansion strategy. In common with Nimbuzz, which processes more than 1 billion VoIP call minutes per month, WaveCrest has a global reach built on their IP technology.”
