Aircel offers Rs 10 loan to Delhi and Mumbai pre-paid mobile users

Aircel, following the footsteps of Reliance Communications, today added Extra Credit service that will provide its users an instant loan of Rs 10 that can be availed when their balance drops below Rs 10.

The Indian telecom service provider has tied up with mCarbon to launch the new service to prepaid customers in Delhi and Mumbai who have been on the network for a minimum of 120 days.

Recently, Reliance Communications, the Mumbai-based telecom operator, announced an instant loan of Rs 5 or Rs 10, which can be used when the balance dips below Rs 10, to pre-paid GSM customers.

The talk-time given through Reliance Communications’ TalkLoan loan facility does not have any validity, and users can use it anytime they want. The loan amount will be recovered by the company over subsequent recharges, with a nominal transaction fee.

Aircel’s Extra Credit service will provide its users an instant loan of Rs 10 by dialing *414# or IVR dialing 12880 or through SMS LOAN to 55414.

Anupam Vasudev, chief marketing officer, Aircel, said: “Sometimes the mobile phones run out of balance amount at crucial times and it causes a lot of inconvenience to the customers. With the launch of Aircel’s Extra Credit Service, we aim to ensure that our customers are connected 24X7, even in times of need when they have exhausted their account balance.”

Aircel deducts a convenience fee and the loan value during the subsequent recharging.

Rajesh Razdan, co-founder and CEO of mCarbon said: “The service leverages on deep consumer analytics and usage patterns to enhance customer service and drive revenues by generating additional minutes of usage in the network.”
