Huawei conducts interoperability test for transport SDN

Huawei has demonstrated interoperability on single-domain controller and NetMatrix coordinator for transport software-defined networking (SDN).

The Chinese mobile equipment vendor performed interoperability tests in telecom carriers in Asia, Europe and North America.

The tests were organized by the Optical Internetworking Forum (OIF) and Open Networking Foundation (ONF), said Huawei.

The main aim of the interoperability tests is to accelerate the industrial adoption of transport SDN technologies and improve network interoperability and programmability.

The global tests verified common transport SDN interfaces and key interoperability technologies, promoting the development of transport SDN solutions and commercial use of new services, and supporting more dynamic transport services such as Bandwidth on Demand.

Huawei verified its transport SDN controller, together with corresponding open capability via third-party controllers and APPs.

In a statement, Huawei said it also tested its NetMatrix coordinator with end-to-end coordination, management and control capability over cross-vendor devices. During the testing, Huawei worked with carriers and other participants to optimize interfaces and key transport SDN technologies.

“The demonstration of interoperability for transport SDN, and our continued efforts to promote Bandwidth on Demand and Virtual Transport Service applications, contribute to the shared objective of improving service capability of transmission channels, interoperability capability cross multi-vendors and bring immense business opportunities for our customers,” said Zha Jun, president of Fixed Network Product Line, Huawei.
